I think the cheese pronunciation mix up comes from the spelling disparity between the actual cheese name (parmigiano-reggiano) and the generic name that it is known by here in the states (parmesan). For the record, I have always pronounced it like the majority of others at the table(parmigian). Sorry Alison… – Side note: I am still in the middle of listening to the podcast, so if you touch on this later in the episode, I apologize. The mini-controversy caused me to immediately pause the podcast and look it up myself.

Alison: “It's too early in the marriage for your soul to be crushed.” Daniel: “Yes.” Ha!
I love that more focus is being put on the iTunes reviews lately. I used to think that segment was glossed over too quickly, so this new thing of Al doing a dramatic reading of them over an underscore is perfect to me. In fact, if a comment is short, I think two should be read.
And now to the serious part of this episode/comment! I am completely with Greg and Jeff on cats!! I appreciate their defensiveness of cats. I feel the same way as Greg about morning cat snuggles.:) I have a cool yellow lab and a soft purring cat. I love my lab to death, but he can't snuggle with me like my cat can. I do think there is an anti-cat sentiment or at least indifference toward cats at ARIYNBF though. In Alison's defense, I've never heard Alison say that she didn't like cats. I just assumed she was indifferent about them. My husband has cat allergies, but he likes cats anyway. He takes allergy medicine and it works for him and he's now gotten to the pooint that he doesn't need it anymore, but I understand that it doesn't always work for others. I know he didn't mean to (though Daniel obviously did!), but Al did dig himself into a hole with the “feminine” comment.:) Maybe he meant “sensitive”? I actually know what Al was trying to say. There's something extra endearing to me when a man loves his cat. My husband's brother loves his cat and it's extra awesome, because he's a macho guy in every other way, including his emotions. Dustin's point that the cat talk was filled with more tension than the race talk was funny and seemed true. I'll admit that while I love cats and dogs, I have no love for any other kind of “pet.” No rodent pets for me! No matter, I still love the ARIYNBF gang. I'll just advise my Vincent Van Cat not to listen this week.:) #TeamCats
Dustin's quiz was simple and fun.
The cutting raisin talk was very funny, though it was in last week's description and I just figured I'd somehow missed it last week. It was worth the wait.
Riveting episode and I just hope Greg and Jeff don't feel so marginalized that they won't come back.:)

At the door of the men's room, if you don't fart, they don't let you in. They assume you are an impostor.

The correct style of urinal would be where you pee on the front of the bowl so that the angle between you and the pee is acute instead of peeing on the back side of the urinal.

You have to think of it like the evolution of tanks in WW2. The first ones had slab sides where the shells would impact approximately normally (right angle). Later designs evolved to have curved sides where the shells could never get a straight-on shot and thus would glance off. So, when I pee I try to imagine I'm a pacifist who was nonetheless drafted into the tank corps so I'm looking for any oblique angle to hit so that no one gets hurt and yet I don't get beaten about the head and shoulders by Brad Pitt or some other actual man.

Clutch Cargo, I got it 😉

Limited animation…in more ways than one.

I'm with you on the cat thing. I grew up always having a dog, and I love dogs. As an adult, I've always had cats, and have found that not only do I love them in general, they are a pet that fits my lifestyle – so we are both happy.

I cringed when Al made the “feminine” comment as I knew he was trying to be his kind, collaborative, and peacemaker self but picked the wrong word. I got his intent, though. I used to be more like Greg in that if something got under my skin a little bit, it got under my skin a lot – especially with things like cats vs dogs. However, I've decided that a lot of people just haven't had the good fortune to connect with a cat and thus are missing out on all cats. They don't know what they don't know. So I try to model good cat loving citizenship 🙂

Also, once you have loved a pet (any kind) very much and have lost that pet to illness / accident / old age, I think you have much less tolerance for neutral to flippant talk (or such that is perceived that way) about the death of the same type of animal. One of my cats I got when he was 3 months old and he passed away at almost 16 years old. It was brutal to go through that loss. I mean, gut wrenching. So I can see how things can be hard that way, too.
