ARIYNBF 106 with Doug Benson

Comedian Doug Benson joins this episode of Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend to talk about how he and Alison met, costume parties, twitter, dating, deleted tweets (sort of), the advice he gave Alison when she was auditioning for The Adam Carolla Show, his podcast Doug Loves Movies, Fox News, Red Eye and other important stuff I can’t remember right now. We also took your calls and Larry Miller tried to ruin my show.

Please enjoy this episode and rate it highly and tell your friends and ask them to subscribe or just go on their computers and subscribe for them. They’ll appreciate it and more importantly, I will appreciate it. (I know I say stuff like this often but it really does make a difference in keeping the podcast near the top of the charts on iTunes!)

Also please love the hell out of our sponsors! What sponsors you ask? You can get to all of them from the sidebar on this page but also you can do it here by going to GameflyAmazon (clear your cookies first and what the hell, make a bookmark!), Endless and Adam and Eve (NSFW).

ARIYNBF 105 with Dana Gould

On this episode of Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend, writer, comedian and podcast host Dana Gould joins the show to talk about his sexy flat feet and his out of date IMDB photo. We also talk about why it is he has three children, four dogs, two guinea pigs, a fish and a wife, how he met his wife and the way she refused to let him sabotage the relationship, relationships in general, being one of many children, panic attacks (he had one on stage!), sexy Volvos, unsexy Volvos, unsexy vulvas, semi-sexy uvulas, and what it was like writing for The Simpsons for many years. There’s no Huell Howser (you didn’t really think there would be, right?) but we open the phone lines and Dana Gould proves he’s awfully good at giving advice when a high school boy calls in wanting to know how to handle the fact that he’s openly gay, his boyfriend is in the closet and prom is coming up which he wants to attend, preferably with his boyfriend. There are other calls as well. I think we either fix or ruin someone’s marriage. Then I insult Gary. And other fun stuff!

Also I should come clean and tell you we didn’t really talk about vulvas or uvulas. Volvos, yes. And anal sex.

I am a liar!

ARIYNBF 104 with Riki Lindhome

On the fourth episode of Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend, actress, comedian, member of funny musical duo Garfunkel and Oates and fellow podcast host Riki Lindhome joins the show to talk about relationships, Valentine’s Day, the Nuvaring, the way you have to do fun stuff like go on trips and eat at nice restaurants even if you’re single, workaholism, setting boundaries, therapy, whether relationships make you less productive and the way Kinko’s doesn’t suck, which is nuts since everyone knows Kinko’s sucks. In fact as I sit here writing this I’m still baffled at the way an otherwise intelligent woman such as Riki Lindhome can insist Kinko’s is a pleasant place to go when it’s pretty much the opposite of a pleasant place to go. Have I mentioned I hate Kinko’s? God, I hate it. But Riki doesn’t.

Please enjoy this episode and give it a good rating and tell all your friends!

ARIYNBF 103 with Marc Maron

On the third episode of Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend, WTF host and podcast superstar Marc Maron was kind enough to let us invade his cat ranch and interview him on his own turf. We talked about sad songs, sad sex, hateful internet trolls and how to handle them, anger and rage and anxiety and insecurity, relationships, interviewing styles, body dysmorphia, Joe Rogan, “Carolla-tards” and how to keep a relationship alive. We also took a question from the phantom topic sombrero and talked about other stuff which was fascinating and scintillating and other words which end in ing but which escape me right now. The stuff we talked about, not the words. I could list a buttload of words ending in ing. We didn’t see any cats, which is curious.

Please love the episode and rate it highly and tell all your friends! And as always, thank you for all the awesome support and feedback!

Also please love the hell out of our sponsors! What sponsors you ask? You can get to all of them from the sidebar on this page but also you can do it here by going to Gamefly, Amazon, Endless and Adam and Eve (NSFW).

ARIYNBF 102 with Dustin Goot and your calls

Dustin Goot and me (back when we put ourselves on Ustream and occasionally wore antlers)(Not to be confused with when we wore this or this or this)

First of all I want to thank everyone for the amazing reaction to our first episode! We debuted at number one on the iTunes comedy chart and have held the top spot ever since! Also we were number one on the main iTunes chart for a chunk of time as well! In your face, This American Life! (Right now we’re number 4 on that chart. Update, number 10.) All of which is to say we really appreciate the support. (Please enjoy this photo of ARIYNBF at the top of the iTunes and Comedy charts!)

Anyway, on the second episode of ARIYNBF:

Dustin Goot–my old sidekick and longtime friend–joined the show to talk about relationships, humane ways to break up, the way I used to have a knack for selecting the wrong guy, Rosenating, burping contests, the difference between real production and doing a show in my living room, threesomes (and how awkward they are), porn stars who aren’t nobel laureates, embarrassing things people do in their cars and why you shouldn’t go to dinner with people in business school or keep track of how many times you’ve been dumped. Also we took some calls and played a round of Just Me Or Everyone.

Please love the episode and rate it highly. It’s a little different than the others but I think you’ll enjoy it all the same.

Also please love the hell out of our sponsors! What sponsors you ask? You can get to all of them from the sidebar on this page but also you can do it here by going to Gamefly, AmazonEndless and Adam and Eve (NSFW).

a completely unimportant thought that is stuck in my head

Sometimes I get songs stuck in my head and sometimes I get words stuck in my head and sometimes I get thoughts stuck in there and here’s one that’s been taking up space periodically over the last few months:

How does one describe the difference between black cherry and cherry?

This isn’t a koan. I’m pretty sure someone could describe the difference, since I can definitely taste the difference and there’s a very real difference. But it’s tough to put it into words. I suppose black cherry is more mellow and cherry is more tangy/tart?

In other news I can’t stand having to wait until Monday to put up another episode of my podcast! I’m so excited that you guys like it!

This threatened to make me cry

So pretty much everything cute involving animals almost makes me cry or actually makes me cry. I would attribute it to hormones except I only started taking them a couple days ago (to control endometriosis… might I tell you more about my lady plumbing?) and this crying-over-adorable-animals bullshit has been going on for ages. But back to the singing donkey, or as my dad, Dr. Bruce and Bill Maher say, “dunkey” (I think it’s an East Coast thing).

Behold!

ARIYNBF 101 with Pete Holmes

Oh hi! I bet you’ve come here to hear what all the fuss with the new podcast is about. Am I right? AMIRITE? I hate when people write it that way. Also I h8 when ppl rite it that way.

Okay enough fucking around. The inaugural episode of Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend with guest Pete Holmes will be available for downloading and loving the hell out of on Monday which really means late Sunday night.

On the first episode we talked about my hobbit house, Pete’s first sexual experiences and what he’s looking for in a girl (hint: himself) (oooh, that’s an unintentional dirty joke!)(I really just mean he wants a girl who’s similar to him)(Okay enough parentheticals.) Also we talked about Ryan Gosling and deleted tweets and assorted other stuff, all of which is awesome. Please feel free to love this episode and then click the hell out of the sponsor links on the right. Do it!

Also please rank this episode highly if you like it and tell a friend or 16.

I suppose this episode will need some credits and this is how that’s going to go, I think:

Happy Birthday, Woofie

Woofie was the dog I grew up with. People always thought we were saying Wolfie which is kind of tough and cool–and Van Halen-ish–instead of Woofie, which is neither. But he was a good dog and I was fairly devastated when he died many years ago and for some reason I always remember his birthday, which would have been today.

Here are some old posts about him, in case you need to look at photos and read some words, which you do.

In other news, my brand new podcast is launching on February 13th! Cancel all your plans!
