I feel another cookie disaster coming on

As you all know, there was a disastrous attempt to make Christmas mice cookies. Well I’m now in California, where the air is thankfully not thick with the shame of floppy cookies, and so I’m thinking I’ll attempt the starchy rodents once more for a party I’m attending on Sunday.

At least, that’s what I was thinking and then I started poking around the internet looking for a good recipe and shit howdy, the world of Christmas mice is complicated and multilayered and it’s possible I’ve stumbled on some kind of secret society. I mean, first of all, there’s a fundamental divide in the world of Christmas mice because there are the cookie mice but then there are these candy-cookie-mice things.

They’re made with a chocolate dipped cherry and a chocolate kiss. Should I go this route?

Here’s the alternative, or something a little closer to it:

But then there’s also this:

Or this:

But wait there’s also this:

I really don’t know which way to go here. I feel another cookie mouse disaster coming on. I think the first ones are the cutest and yet I think it’d be easier to make a cookie-based mouse. If only I had my magic 8-ball here to help me with this decision!

Go with the lower chocolate ones. That way if they don't turn out, you can pull out the ears and tails and say they're Christmas turds.

Avoid the first cookie candy mice things, First the red eyes make them look demonic, Second they are way too Martha Stewart, If you choose this path you are embracing the dark side, “To heartbreak and pain it will lead you” (imagine Yoda saying that). Five years from now we will be reading about you sneaking gormet mustard into some federal prison. I don't want to see you do your Ustream show in an orange twill jumpsuit. Go with one of the cookie mice (no red eyes though)

“Why suffer the hassle of replicating an animal mouse and instead make a chocolate computer mouse as shown in the following link ? I hope the image gives you a few pointers (excuse me for the pun).”
