” One time when I was a kid, I went to a bar with my dad. As we sat, dad requested a martini and I asked for milk. The motorcycle junkies mocked us for our orders . We felt ashamed and afraid as the humiliation continued until a man who donned a cowboy hat, chinks, and boots with chap guards entered the bar and asked what the commotion was about. The whole bar was dead silent by the man's presence. I didn't know who the man was but something he said about our courage of ordering something unprecedented in such a place like that bar was courageous enough. Later on, the people turned away and stopped disparaging us. I then told dad with a hard edge to my voice that it's best to leave this place and go to a bar where real tough men can have a drink. We exited the bar with full-fledged confidence and hopped on our horses. Before we could leave, I heard a voice from behind. It was that of the mysterious fellow. He told me “What are you doing, Get off your horse and drink your milk”……………………………………

That's a great story about Hawaii! It doesn't surprise me that Alison entertained all those people – even at age 3.

Hawaii is a great place. Back in 2002 I was still at IDX (software company) and worked on a year-long project that involved a lot of extra hours. At the end of the project I decided to go to Waikiki for a week. I was there over Christmas and had a great time. And it was also there that I won something for the first and only time in my life.

I stayed at the Outrigger Reef and they had a '12 Days of Christmas” contest for the guests. They picked a different guest every day – the first winner got a free night's stay, the second winner got 2 free nights, etc.. up to the 12th day (Christmas Day) when that guest got 12 free nights. I was the winner on day 8! So I went back the following November for another week and only had to pay for the airfare.

That was the only Christmas I ever spent in a warm climate and it was fun seeing how they decorated for the holidays. In front of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center was a huge Christmas tree with Santa's sleigh being pulled by… 12 dolphins!

I loved the part where you use the model windshield wiper to start wiping the camera. You and your dad crack me up.
