Though I only met comedian and author Josh Wolf (Chelsea Lately, The Josh Wolf Show, Fairly Normal with Josh Wolf podcast) over Twitter a few weeks before we did this episode I felt like we were fast friends. We chatted about all sorts of stuff including toxic work environments and not wanting to work with assholes, covert assholes, his experience being a young single guy raising three kids, visits from the health department, terrible bangs, how he met his wife and relationships in general, taping socks to his armpits, opening for Sam Kinison at the start of his career, Chelsea Handler and Joey Diaz babysitting his kids, getting kicked out of the ocean and so much more. Last week Greg regaled us with stories of his fractious former neighbors. What he didn’t say, or maybe he did and I forgot, is that they were so loud he was able to record them from his kitchen. He sent me the audio clip but was hesitant to have us play it on the show because he’s a decent person. So I did the only smart thing someone in my position could do: listened to it 900 times in order to transcribe it so we could reenact on the show. Also in this episode, Jenna is still extremely pregnant and had a contraction, Greg and Daniel have app ideas and I have an idea for a cologne and also a shoe-musement park, Greg cries during movies and which way to lean while hugging. Plus we did a round of Just Me Or Everyone.

Matt Nathanson and I went to college together and as I confess to him early on in this episode, I’ve come to feel like he and I are on similar journeys in life. It’s an incredibly squishy and drippy thing to say and if I read it or overheard it, I’d probably roll my eyes. And yet here I am, coughing it up for you right here and also on the podcast. Back in the day (and also on the tenth episode of my podcast on which he guested) we fought good-naturedly about all sorts of stuff with the exception of the couple of times it felt not so good-natured. But these days we totally get along. On this episode we talk about ego states, parenthood, the necessity of being totally honest if you’re an artist, fame, poetry, Matt’s childhood and boarding school experience, his new album, infidelity, his family, his relationship with his parents, the Taylor Swift Incident, Bill Murray and so much more. On Saturday night, Jenna and Al had all of us over to their new place for an extra-curricular hangout and we had a blast. On this episode, Daniel, Greg, Jeff, Jenna, Al and I recounted the festivities complete with Greg’s assessment of Jenna and Al’s avocado tree, pistol racking, more dirty diet coke talk, spear-fishing, Greg’s car troubles, whether women can be creepy or not, Jenna’s due date, what truly happens when you give birth, being skeptical of real estate agents, whether we should all move to bumblefuck and so much more.
