On tonight's ARIYNBF: Real Housewives, Olga Kay and MORE!

Tonight’s show is 25 pounds of awesome in a 10 pound bag. I actually have no idea what that means. Does it mean there’s awesome overflowing from the unfortunately small bag which someone lacked the foresight to realize wouldn’t sufficiently cradle the quantity of awesome happening tonight? Or does it mean the awesomeness is crammed down into the bag and will explode out of the bag, as if it’s under pressure? Or does it mean there’s a sort of awesomeness muffintop being created by the too small bag plus too big awesomeness?

I’m not sure but Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen whose name I misspell each time I try to write it will be here to talk about Real Housewives of New York City and their new book, Little Kids, Big City.

*Got questions for Alex and Simon? Post them  here and I’ll try to ask during the show tonight! (Of course you can and should also ask questions in the chat room!!)

Also on tonight’s humdinger of a show is Youtube personality Olga Kay. She’s hilarious. (*Post questions for her here!)

Also on tonight’s wazoo of a wingding? Podcaster Jake Tuber, whom you may remember as the guy who claims to have started his own Ustream show because he was inspired by MY show. I’m probably being lulled into a false sense of security by all the smoke he’s blowing up my ass (which, by the way, is all true) and before long he’ll have a more popular Ustream show than I will but… oh who am I kidding? Exactly. But he’s fun and funny.

And also, Alfred Schulz whom you may know as Bill Schulz’s brother and a very funny and delightful person in his own right will be here to talk about things you never hear people say. He’s also sporting creepy facial  hair.

I informed Dustin that tonight was beginning to look a bit like a sausage fest and he says he might stop by after seeing a Tribeca film to put the sausages in their place. So: potential Dustin appearance! And possible Koryn appearance!

Also, I’m going to show some videos because now I do that!

And of course we’ll have the fan phone call! Click here for info on how to enter your number for the call of your life.

So watch at 10pm ET tonight at ustream.tv/alisonrosen

And there will be some shoutouts. Usually I keep the shoutouts, which are greetings or messages over here and the advertisements, which are advertising, over here, however a really loyal fan asked if I’d give a shoutout to his friend’s web site and I agreed to create something called Shoutvertisements. So basically if you want something akin to advertising but you can’t afford the full sponsorship (I’ve changed my rates, by the way, inquire if you’re all curiouslike), let me know and you can get a  shoutvertisement. It just rolls off the tongue, really.

Also, I  just got word that the tshirts are done being printed and will be shipped to me pronto! Yay!

Also on the show, we will talk about whether I should get car magnets made. Should I? Chi_Mike wants to get some and I don’t have a car so I don’t know if this is something people would be wanting. Let me know what you think.

I love you.

I’d also like to throw some love to my sponsors Saxton Manufacturing (who can treat any and all water problems, discounts if you tell ’em you’re a fan of the show) and Chip-n-Dough Cookies (discount if you use promo code ARBF).

On tonight's ARIYNBF!

(Sometimes I get so excited about the show I’m like the one on the right but then sometimes I’m really cool like the one on the left.)

Tonight’s the night, you guys! Magic and wonder and mystery and pencils and ducklings and duck calls and Dustin and Jenna Kim Jones

and you and me and Koryn and fan phone calls and so much more. In fact, at various points in the day it literally was more and it also literally was less and people suddenly were going to be showing up and then just as suddenly weren’t going to be showing up and it was a real whirlwind of emotion for yours truly. I mean, it was a real rollercoaster, an e-ticket ride, a hullabaloo, a merry-go-round, a parade, a fair, an affair to remember, an affair to forget, a warm cup of tea, a crab puff, a pork bun, a Helen Reddy, an eraser, a cell phone battery sitting on my desk, clams!

Not to be cliche or anything.

So yeah, join me tonight! And if you aren’t signed up for Joe’s updates, you’re missing out. Here’s what everyone received today:

A message from Joe to all members of A Rosen By Any Other Name on The Activity Pit!

On tonight’s Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend, Alison welcomes special guest comedian and Daily Show staffer Jenna Kim Jones. Dustin and Koryn will also stop by. Plus other stuff. The broadcast begins at 10pm eastern. Click here to watch: http://www.ustream.tv/AlisonRosen

“Love is an attachment to another self. Humor is a form of self-detachment — a way of looking at one’s existence, one’s misfortune, or one’s discomfort. If you really love, if you really know how to laugh, the result is the same: you forget yourself.”  – Claude Roy

“I was irrevocably betrothed to laughter, the sound of which has always seemed to me the most civilized music in the world.” – Peter Ustinov

Your questions: Is the bartender into me? Should I date someone my bro likes?

So I did a spontaneous show tonight, which I’m calling an ARIYNBF bonus show, and it was really fun! It was probably more true to the actual experience of hanging out with your new best friend than Wednesday’s shows in that it was just you guys and me, talking about stuff.

A couple things came up which I’m still thinking about: Erratech wanted to know how best to ask our a bartender he’s taken a liking to. He claims making “sexy eyes” are her is not working for him. It sounds as if she’s making some indication of being maybe sorta interested but then everyone was pointing out that bartenders are paid to be friendly. Also, to pour drinks. Also, he ate a calamari salad, which has nothing to do with this except I fear calamari and also octopus. What advice would you have given him? Also Leo wanted to know whether he should go for a girl that he and his brother both like. He is 16 and his brother is 15. I told him it might not be worth it to do something that would upset his brother but many of my viewers disagreed. What do you think?I can’t wait to find out what happens in both cases!

I had a busy weekend

Look how weird this is! We’re both making the same expression! We’re expression twins! So anyway, I had a pretty packed weekend of talking about myself on the radio and on a podcast. You’re welcome, America. [UPDATE: I just agreed to be part of Fox Sports radio’s TV THEME SONG tournament for the next 5 weeks so cancel all your Saturday noon plans. DO IT. CANCEL THEM! Round 1 of the tournament is what you’ll hear if you click on the radio interview I linked to above.]

But as for this Jake Tuber podcast character pictured above, I forget how I heard of him but basically he started contacting me on Twitter and told me I’d been the inspiration for his starting his own Ustream show and I asked my assistants to get rid of him but then I realized I didn’t have assistants and then I agreed to let him interview me since it’s the least I can do, being his hero and all.

Also this weekend I went out with Koryn and we were sitting there and she said, in a general effort to get me to be more social, “You spend so much time on your hair, don’t you want people to see it?” And honestly what I was thinking was that I really don’t spend SOOOOO much time on my hair. Anymore.

And then last night Dustin and I got our asses handed to us at pub trivia which was just so much BS.

Also, I think I’m going to do something magnificent soon where I live stream briefly every day of the week on a different live streaming site in an effort to test all the sites and also to give the people what they want: a heapload of me. So I’m compiling a list of the sites I should try. Let me know if you have any recommendations. And then tell everyone you know to follow me around the internet!

Also, you know how I’m trying to hook up an external monitor? I have this little flat screen TV which has an S video input and my MacBook has a mini DVI port so can I just go MINI DVI to DVI to S VIDEO? I realize some people may have already answered this but I’m confused about whether it will work.

Oh and lately I’ve been feeling a little like one of those sad blobs in the Prozac commercials which is possibly because my bday is coming up next month and I tend to get a little mopey around my bday every year which is very cliche, I know.

And RSVP for this week’s show and become a fan on FB! and follow me on DailyBooth even though I haven’t done much over there yet!

And have you pre-ordered a tshirt or a shoutout? Get on that! (you know, if you want)

“Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend” is live on Ustream every Wednesday night. www.ustream.com/alisonrosen

Happy Ducklings!

Dustin! Nevada! Koryn!

Your Shoutouts! (here’s the deal you guys, I’ve been too busy this week to secure a sponsor so while that is great and means I’ve been busy writing, it’s also not great in terms of me having the show sponsored. Which is why I’m pushing the shoutouts! They’re like tiny microsponsorships!)

Me worrying I’ve become obnoxious! (see above)

RSVP for the show and watch at 10pm ET/7pm PT!

On tonight's Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend

Nevada Caldwell

Tonight is a super duper special awesome show (ok fine, I say that about all of them but I REALLY MEAN IT THIS TIME) because my friend Nevada Caldwell will be dropping in and she has choreographed every aspect of this from her outfit to her opera cake. I don’t know you guys, I just work here. Also, we’ll be talking Natali Del Conte and learning about the iPad and probably we’ll have to discuss NOODLES.

Here’s me and Natali!

And Dustin may or may not show up. Don’t even get me started on that guy. And of course we’ll be doing all the things you love like JMOE and TV Talk and phone-a-fan and dating experiment and I have new songs to play you that Trapp wrote and they are amazing!

Tonight’s sponsor is Saxton Manufacturing Co. They also sponsored last week’s show. You should call them up this instant and thank them for keeping this show going because I’ve been calling them every minute on the minute thanking them but I am just one person. I just learned a lot about water treatment including all the different kinds of things that could be in your water depending if you live in a city or rural environment. Seriously, I could go on Jeopardy and sweep the water category, if there were one. Uranium, you guys. URANIUM in water! It’s happened! So the thing about Saxton is they can deal with any kind of water treatment situation you need to take care of. And they’re nice. How nice? So nice they sponsored this show and the last one. You can ask for water hardness testing strips for free if you want a fun free thing and you can also talk about any water questions or issues by emailing Gary at SaxtonAR [at] gmail [dot ]com or using the form on their web site. You can also call (714) 546-9020 for info. Deep discount for my viewers so mention that, won’t you?

Phone-a-fan details!

You know what I need? Some kind of show wiki. In lieu of that, a show website. In lieu of that, just somewhere to go to get info about the show like a page. I need to get on that. In the meantime I’ll just regurgitate the info and spit it into your mouth like a bird, because who doesn’t love birds? Especially birds with info?

Here’s the phone-a-fan details  you need to know, should you want a piece of this action, which you pretty much do:

Okay my little quesadillas, this is how it’s going to go down. Instead of having the last fan choose who the next fan to receive a call on the show is, I’m thinking everyone who wants to get a call should send me their info and I will put all of it in a hat although it’s quite possible it won’t really be a hat and instead it will be a double boiler or a shoe.

If I call you and you don’t answer, I will pull another name out of the hat and you will silently curse your cruel fate.

So send me your name and number (I fear this request sounds creepy but I assure you I will not do anything with your numbers other than put them in said shoe or hat or boiler) to alisonrosenisyournewbestfriend at gmail dot com and you will be entered into lifechanging phone call territory. Speaking of territory, for now this is limited to the continental US because I can’t afford to call other places because that’s the kind of show I’m doing: a cheap one. BUT I LOVE YOU ALL!

And tune the fuck in for amazingness times a zillion.

Also on tomorrow’s show, awesome guests. I’m putting the final touches on the awesomeness now, so I don’t want to say for sure, because it’s not for sure, but then nothing in this world is. Except my love for you. That is rock solid. And the fact that I can only handle TV makeup on my face for so long before I want to peel it off or punch someone. See you tomorrow! Or later tonight!
