ARIYNBF 139 with Jay Mohr

Jay Mohr stopped by this episode of Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend to discuss giraffes, heroes, salty pretzels, salt in general, whether or not he needs validation, love, fatherhood and how he learned to be more patient, his interviewing style on his podcast Mohr Stories, anagrams and abbreviations, SNL, sobriety, meeting his wife Nikki Cox, Fake Mustache Studios, legos, his humps, Fergie, Josh Duhamel and James Caan, complaining, optimism and wishing he could be more gentle. We also did a round of Just Me Or Everyone (click here to see the JMOEs we put up on the screen) and debated whether certain tweets deserved blocking in a possible new segment.

Well…. I feel ashamed of myself. For the longest time, I have not liked Jay Mohr. I don't even remember why I did not like him. I think it had something to do with an interview he gave years ago, and his personality at the time just did not seem to strike me as being a nice guy. I almost did not listen to this podcast, but it's Alison, so I had to give it a shot (at least a few minutes). From the get go, I felt like my attitude towards Jay Mohr has been completely wrong. I found myself with a huge grin on my face as I listened more. I loved the interaction with Alison and Jay. I was also loving the couple times Nikki came in to give her 2 cents. Listening to Alison and Jay talk about The Facts of Life… well, I could just picture Alison grinning from ear to ear with joy… and Gary rolling his eyes at how the conversation was turning. This was definitely a fun podcast to hear, and I am so glad I gave it a chance.

I concur that I also did not like him for the longest time but he is whole now and happy and he is a good person.  Check out his podcast.  He is hilarious and interesting.

Alison, I thought I was the only one who reacted to situations like you described yourself reacting. It's a little weird that I'm a 47 year old man… But it was like hearing you describe the way I am. Thank you! I feel better knowing I'm not the only one. Also great “interview/conversation” with Jay Mohr! The more I hear Jay Mohr interviewed the more I like him! I'm a huge Adam Carolla fan and I really enjoy your addition to that show as well. Your very funny and you have great timing. I'm a fan!

Yeah, a Jerry impersonation. “I'm not drunk and there's not an earthquake.” Go Jay!

Jerry was kinda hot, which disturbed my teenage male mind. Also makes me think of the good looking mentally challenged guy that Blair fell for.

no doubt you've been brainstorming this but if you want a TV show maybe bootstrap one on YouTube, feature some bands…. Easier said than done, but production eq. is coming constantly getting cheaper and more powerful. Also, many incipient production companies/individuals trying to leverage this power too.
