Where to see me this week

Happy Monday! The next live Ustream show is Wednesday at 11pm EST and it will be fantastic if I have any say in the matter, which I do. We might have Skippy and don’t even pretend you don’t know exactly who I’m talking about because really, who are you trying to impress?

In other news, I should be working right now which is very 2009, you know?

Ok  here I go. Back to work.

Oh wait but also I’ll be on Red Eye on Jan 7 JAN 6 which is Thursday night/Friday morning Wednesday night/Thursday morning! So basically this is really your week, me-wise.

OMG… I think I'm going to miss you on Red Eye this week because I'm going to San Francisco to see Junior Brown at Slim's! Maybe I'll catch your Red Eye stuff on YouTube soon after 🙁

First you go to Vegas, now you're going to SF… I think you're avoiding all
of us. But have a good trip! Maybe the show will replay over the weekend…

I hope so… I am really looking forward to your Red Eye appearance too Alison. I hope you are really funny and controversial with your comments because everyone loves a little Alison Rosen controversy!

January 7 will make it 182 days since you've been on Red Eye. Not that we're keeping track or anything.

Daaaayum.. has it been that long? Alison should ask the hair/makeup people to make her hair HUGE. People seem to really enjoy that, and it would be nice to see Alison with the big hair like days of yore!

I think she should wear a beehive on the show: http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser

Regarding your Morrel Sno Cap Lard twitpic: There was this Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant that I used to frequent when I lived in California. One day my friend pointed to a container truck pulling up right outside in the parking lot, it was delivering lard. That was the moment when I realized that MSG wasn’t the only key ingredient that made traditional Chinese food taste good. My favorite crunchy spring rolls were fried in lard.

At the risk of coming off like an as$hole (I really am not one, so I've been told!) or at the very least like a nagging parent, exactly what does “work” these days entail for you? Please note I am not asking this to be sarcastic, I truly am curious about the lifestyle that writers lead, especially since I believe you once said that you are not paid for the various radio/tv appearances you make. Also, I am aware as to how expensive it is to live in NYC. Does free-lancing, being a contributing editor, etc. pay enough to support your lavish lifestyle of buying produce at Trader Joe's and buying various cool gadgets for your videos/ustream show? (okay… so only this last sentence was meant to be somewhat funny… the rest was serious though, honest).

To be quite honest, I am struggling right now.

You've got to finish working on that book we're all waiting for! You know, the one with the super duper secret title and subject matter/plot (which I believe Dustin is one of the few that knows if I remember… which is why we're all conspiring to kidnap him and make him talk like how it's done in movies).

Or if not then if that doesn't work you could always sell that sweet drum set, though I'd feel the pain too from here if you did that to be honest.

I forgot to mention in my last comment just now: I think I speak for all of your fans when I say that Wed. night can’t get here any sooner. It’s really a crime that the creative folks at Red Eye have not booked you on that show in such a long time (180 days or so according to Joe)! Shame on them.

That was the most embarrassing post I've ever seen on this blog. Sergio, you should be ashamed of yourself. Alison's lifestyle, her work, how and when she's paid are none of your business, or mine. I can't tell you how offended I am that you even dared ask about that. You, sir, have absolutely no manners.

Alison’s lifestyle, her work, how and when she’s paid are none of your business, or mine, except for what she chooses to tell us. I felt horrible when I read that you are struggling right now! Maybe the saddest sentence I've read on the blog! At the beginning of 2009, I had a saying, It's going to be fine in '09 (but it wasn't)…..now I have to come up with a good line for 2010….because it's your time to shine Alison!

  32. sergio51 January 5, 2010 at 1:42 pm #

Joe, I agree that how and when anyone is paid is none of our business, which is why I didn't ask Alison that if you read my comment above carefully. As I mentioned above, I've always just been interested in what writers do during a typical day, especially those that freelance, since it seems like it's a much more interesting and rewarding way to work as oppose to being stuck in a cubicle all day like a lot of us, unfortunately.
